Ministry retreat time helpful for CrossTraining chaplains and advisors; Rapids defeat Timbers in Home Opener

Last week marked the fourth annual CrossTraining ministry retreat. This year was highlighted by the presence of Portland Timbers chaplain Ben Dudley who also attended the Colorado Rapids home opener against the Portland Timbers. The game marked the Timbers first league match in Major League Soccer and though the Timbers lost to the Rapids, 3-1, the retreat and time together was felt to be a blessing by chaplains and advisors alike. Read and see more on the retreat here.

Timothy Project Possibilities

CrossTraining has become aware of several Individuals and organizations using soccer to reach out to in their communities and the world and are excited by the potential opportunities for partnership that exist for 2011.
From an orphanage in Kenya to a soccer league overseas to a school in Belize, there are some exciting proposals and ideas that are coming via the Timothy Project.
Applications are still being accepted and applicants should fill out the quick online submission and complete the application form which can be downloaded by clicking here.

Buy a Book, Challenge an Athlete

Each season, CrossTraining presents different topics and issues with the athletes, coaches, staff, and families of the respective teams. For the 2011 season, CrossTraining is planning to use the New York Times Bestselling book Same Kind of Different As Me by author Ron Hall with its topic on homelessness. Would you consider buying a book for a member of the team?
A gift of $15 or more will help us get this powerful story in the hands of the people we are working with and help us begin an engaging dialogue about homelessness and our response.
You can help us by clicking on the "donate" button to the right and making a donation today. Thanks for your support!

Changes Coming

As a result of discussions out of the 2011 CrossTraining Retreat, there will be several changes coming in the next few weeks to the CrossTraining website and to its Social Media pages and tools. Look for emails and other notifications regarding these changes.
