Soccer Chaplains United May Update ⛅

Hello Friends,

Well, April flew by and May is already at the middle — which means that the World Cup is nearly here! Starting June 11, Mexico take on South Africa in the opening match of this epic tournament which comes to North America. Mexico, Canada, and the US will all host games and countries from around the world during this month-long tournament.

I've got some exciting news to share on the Soccer Chaplains United front, as well as with a 'pray and post' campaign that we are hosting during the World Cup tournament.

Chaplain Updates

Chaplains are our main emphasis and we've had some additions to the team since we last updated you! Paul Flowers joins Soccer Chaplains United as the first ever chaplain to the youth club, Cumbre Alta - Bossier City in Louisiana. Ben Bost got connected to us through Baylor University connections and is now in place as the volunteer chaplain for AC Boise, a new, USL-1 team! Additionally, Marco Ambriz has just gotten started with Oakland Roots SC, after waiting and praying for opportunities over the past 4 years!

Paul Flowers will use his pastoral gifts and billingual abilities to serve Cumbre Alta Youth Club

Ben Bost might be one of our quickest chaplain placements as he is now in place for AC Boise.

Marco Ambriz has waited a long time but is finally serving the Oakland Roots SC.

We currently have a couple more active chaplain placements that we contiue to work on and hope to make progress with before the middle point of this season. Pray that God would grant His favor for putting His people into these strategic and important kingdom positions.

DID YOU KNOW?

It takes Soccer Chaplains United (on average) 6 months to discover and deploy a volunteer chaplain — main barriers include finding pastors/ministers with enough time to devote enough hours throughout the season and also educating and working with individuals at a club or team to accept a volunteer chaplain.

Board Members

Is there someone you know who is interested in soccer or soccer ministry, but maybe they're not a fit as a chaplain or don't have the time to be boots on the ground? We continue to look for board members to help guide and govern the vision and mission of the ministry of Soccer Chaplains United. If there is someone whom you think might be a fit, please feel free to reach out to me (Brad) and recommend them.

Our prospectus will be updated in June, but you can currently see our EOY 2025. Below is a breakdown of our different chaplains, a couple of them list their current, monthly giving needs.

Nations and Devotions

Announcing our 2026 World Cup Campaign! From June 11 — July 19, Soccer Chaplains United will produce a short, daily podcast encouraging people to pray for the various nations represented in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Nations and Devotions: World Cup Prayer Challenge

With the collective voices of our chaplains, we'll offer a short reflection on a theme inspired by the Biblical psalms and The Soccer Psalms and then lead in a prayer for nations that are playing in the World Cup on that day.

Our 'prayer and post' campaign is designed to engage more people to consider the needs of people around the world and to lift them up as the nations come to North America this summer for the world's biggest sporting event.

To celebrate, there will be an assortment of giveaways and also some commemorative stickers that can be earned by participants! See some of the items below!

We have some projects going out this summer — including Uganda and a first time project potentially going to Zambia!
